Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #115

I am posting this a wee bit early so I can wish you a Happy 4th of July.  I hope this week's Farmgirl Friday blog hop finds you in good spirits, surrounded by family and friends, and enjoying this important holiday, the birthday of these United States of America.

Meanwhile, here on the homestead, we're in the middle of another DIY renovation project.  This old house was built a long time ago, and some things seem to have been built inefficiently.  I'm sure whomever built this place did the best they could with what they had, but we hope to make this place a little more energy efficient.  Our front room windows were made from recycled church windows and big sheets of solid glass.  None of them could open to let air circulate, the glass was dark and did not let in much light and obscured the view of the yard.  The siding was old growth cedar, but it's so old that it's breaking up allover the place and has been pecked full of holes by woodpeckers so my husband has been replacing everything he can this week.  New dual pane windows, new wall insulation and siding, and a fresh coat of paint.  Yippee!

We had a 12x7' hole right in the middle of the house for a few days this week and it was 108 degrees...
Today...

He's getting close to finishing this project.  I have been helping.  I am texturing the new drywall inside the room.  I hope to get it done before next week when guests arrive...  my fingers are crossed.

What are you working on this week???  Please do share.
