Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #83

Howdy Farm Friends!

Sorry, I'm late linking up to the party, but I've been glamping up at the river... house sitting the new place and waiting for the well repairs to get completed. The well repairs are complete, the well is working, the cistern is full, and we got hot water today!!! Woohoo! Progress.

While there, my son and daughter-in-law came to visit me and we met several new neighbors that came by to introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood.  So far, we've made friends with a family that runs an organic farm, two ranchers that raise and sell grass fed beef (one of whom is our next door neighbor) and a few retired nurses.

I've enjoyed three days of rain and mild temperatures in the camp trailer.  Lots of canned soup and even home baked cinnamon rolls.  Who says roughing it can't be fun?

Earlier in the week I was home alone at our current home and I had to dig up the two lids of our septic tank for certification and pumping (a condition of sale for our buyers).  We also had a termite inspection here at the old house.  I am happy to report that all of the inspections went well.  It turns out that buying or selling a home is a lot of work.

Meanwhile, at the new place... Jerry found termite damage, the water storage cistern is leaking, and the list continues to grow.  I think there's enough work over there to keep us busy for a long time.  We knew the new place was a fixer-upper and we like a challenge.

I should also note that this week I mentioned that I foolishly packed up my kitchen first and hadn't been cooking.  Wouldn't you know it Michelle popped over with a delicious home cooked meatloaf and dressing dinner which we shared the night before I left to house sit.  Thanks Michelle!!!!

I am home tonight to pack a few more boxes, wash my laundry, and have a visit with our buyers tomorrow morning, then I will be off to the new place again to protect the new water tanks and pump.  I am sure looking forward to the close of escrow on BOTH houses so we can settle into a routine and relax for a few days.

I am without internet now since I am camping up at the new place, but I am looking forward to catching up with each and every FF post to check in and see what everyone else has been up to lately just as soon as we are moved and have internet again...  Until then, please continue to share your farmgirl progress.

Have a wonderful week!

  1. Boy, I hear you on hot water, house repairs and internet. We have had to do the first twice, the second will be ongoing the rest of our lives, and the third we are fortunate to get through our cell phone connected to our laptops through Verizon. (No cable here)

Congratulations on selling, and on your move! Hope all goes well for you. God bless!

  2. Oh, I wanted to add, how lucky you were to have found such great neighbors. We have managed to find an organic farm near us, (yay!); but no one selling cattle or calves yet.
    Have fun!
